About Karoo Times
Karoo Times is the online voice of the Karoo and its many towns, dedicated to spotlighting local life, land, and enterprise beyond the headlines.
Real Karoo. Real People. Real Business.
Launched on April 1, 2025, under the Africa InTouch News banner, Karoo Times quickly gained attention across the region. Just under three months later, it now stands proudly as an independent publication with its own dedicated website.
Karoo Times was created to serve the Karoo’s overlooked towns and agricultural communities by offering a professional media platform focused on business, land, and people. Today, it forms part of a growing family of regional and niche publications under the iOlogue Media umbrella, alongside De Kaap Echo, The Travel Thread, Rivier Rekord, and Flip the Market. These platforms are supported by a dedicated team that has worked together for nearly a decade.
What matters to us
We cover issues and ideas that directly affect the region. From business and agriculture to heritage, innovation, infrastructure, and Karoo lifestyle, we prioritise the Karoo in every single article.
The Karoo Times team
- Anchen Coetzee, founder and CEO of iOlogue Media, established Africa InTouch in 2016. It was the first of several titles that would eventually fall under the umbrella of iOlogue Media. Since then, she has led the company in delivering quality brand content across genres globally. Karoo Times is one of a handful of publications Coetzee oversees.
- Naomi Roebert, editor for Karoo Times, brings a combination of creative discipline and media experience to the publication. She is a senior writer at iOlogue Media and the Marketing & Operations Manager of Africa InTouch. Naomi leads the Karoo Times platform with a firm editorial vision and a deep love for the land and its people.
- Team iOlogue Media, while not involved with the day-to-day running of Karoo Times, remain part of the broader support network. Whether it is writing, editing, research or general media expertise, they will assist with any of our publications and their clients if necessary. Their skills and insight help ensure that everything reflects the same care, quality, and integrity that defines iOlogue Media.
The Karoo ethos
Purpose over platform: We are not driven by clicks or rapid news cycles. Our aim is thoughtful, locally anchored content that speaks to readers who care about the Karoo’s future. Whether it is a pressing issue, an inspiring venture, or a farming family with a story to tell, we publish what matters.
Quality over quantity: Our team believes in fair, focused media. We support businesses, landowners, and locals by offering media services and exposure without inflated rates. With experienced editors and writers, our readers and advertisers can expect professional standards and honest communication.
Why the Karoo?
The Karoo is vast, challenging, and unlike any other region in South Africa. It has a deep-rooted culture of resilience, invention, and quiet brilliance. Karoo Times exists to document and uplift this reality, capturing what too often goes unseen. We honour the Karoo’s identity by publishing work that values its complexity and future.
Karoo Times is more than a publication. It is a platform for reflection, recognition, and responsible reporting across a remarkable region. Join us in chronicling the Karoo, and if you are a local business, let us help you tell your story.
Real Karoo. Real People. Real Business.
